Thanks to world pressure in getting Israel to cease all operations against the Hezbollah in southern Lebanon before the job was done, the Syrians now view Hezbollah’ methods as a winning strategy for themselves. According to a WND report, the Syrians are so impressed with the Hezbollah, that they intend (supposedly already have) to build a group of their very own, with Hezbollah providing the needed instruction:
“Syria learned from Hizbullah’s military campaign against Israel the past month that “fighting” is more effective than peace negotiations with regard to gaining territory.”
The Front for the Liberation of the Golan will be soon making its name a household one in the very near future, as the Syrians up the ante, and begin applying pressure on Israel’s north-east border.
Of course, this completely pulls the rug out from underneath the feet of those who believe in silly notions that, this is just a Hezbollah/Israeli dispute, and all that needs to be done is for one side to mutually recognize the other, bla bla bla ad nauseum. What is at stake, is the Arabs’ refusal to reach some form of reasonable and mutual understanding with Israel, that they cannot have it all. What they couldn’t accomplish through all out war, they tried through a mixture of terrorism and insincere negotiations. Now that they view Israel as being “on the ropes” (unable to defend itself completely from katushas and kidnappings and an international community, that’s unwilling to see an Israel victorious over her arch enemies) Syria wants to create new problems/dilemmas for the Jewish state.
