Finnish police: The suspect in the stabbing in Haaga, Hayder Abduljabar Al-Hmedavi, still hasn’t been found – the police need information about the man’s movements and whereabouts. Tips need to be called to the emergency number 112, police 0295 417 935 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Police said they are treating the incident which occurred in Helsinki’s Haaga district as a case of attempted murder, manslaughter and aggravated battery.
The 34-year-old assailant stabbed two adults, one of whom is his former spouse and mother of his three children whom he also stabbed. One of the child victims is under school age. Police said the victims’ injuries were not life-threatening.
Jari Koski, the officer in charge of the investigation, said charges may change as the investigation moves forward.
While law enforcement officials said they know the identity of the suspect, they are still investigating the motive.
