Jussi Halla-Aho: The Finns party represent Europe’s new normal – the only one in Finland
It’s been a year today since the Finns party meeting in Jyväskylä. Jussi Halla-Aho, who has led the party for a year, writes on Facebook, saying that what the Finns party represent is now a new normal in Europe. Other Finnish parties, in present day Europe, are becoming a remnant of the past.
Chairman Jussi Halla-Aho has not been bitter over the dissolving of the parliamentary group. He’s thankful of the comradery and support that prevails on the ground.
– When issues are given some distance and perspective, more and more – and I have signed up to it – I also am of the opinion that everything that has happened, should have happened. It’s easier to build a clean slate than pulling a rock-laden sled, Halla-Aho said on his Facebook wall.
A frenzied election year is coming. During the past year, the Finns showed their strength in the presidential election, where vice-President Laura Huhtasaari finished third.
After the presidential election, Huhtamaki said that the True Finns are a new normal. There’s been some chuckling over this because it was misunderstood, Halla-Aho says.
“What the Finns party represents is a new normal in Europe.” I am referring both to the victory of the nationalist parties and, above all, to the way in which ‘ nuance ‘ and the national interest have also become an agenda for traditional power-parties.
