Robert Spencer: Saudi crown prince says biggest danger of terror/extremism is to Islam’s rep, no mention of death toll…….

Again: What Trump demanded of the Saudis/Gulf region Arabs to ”drive them out, is what the Saudis and Hafez Assad did within the span of 4 yrs. The Mecca grand mosque seizure in 79′ and Assad in Hama in 82′. This is nothing new, and Islam remains unchanged.

Saudi Crown Prince: “Biggest danger of terrorism and extremism is tarnishing of reputation of our beloved religion”

He isn’t dismissing or discounting the death toll. He also said: “The biggest threat from terrorism and extremism is not only killing innocent people and spreading hate, but tarnishing the reputation of our religion and distorting our belief.”

“We will not allow terrorism to tarnish the image of Islam, says Saudi Crown Prince at IMCTC meeting,” Arab News, November 26, 2017:

RIYADH: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, opened here on Sunday the inaugural meeting of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Ministers of Defense Council.
The event, which adopted the theme “Allied Against Terrorism”, was participated by defense ministers of the Islamic States Coalition, international delegations and official missions from supporting and friendly countries.
The crown prince particularly welcomed ministers of defense from the IMCTC – all 41 of them coming from Muslim countries – who attended the meeting, after which commemorative photos were taken to mark the official launch of a pan-Islamic, unified front to support the global fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
“The biggest danger of this terrorism and extremism is the tarnishing of the reputation of our beloved religion. … We will not allow this to happen,” said the crown prince. “Today we start the pursuit of terrorism and we see its defeat in many facets around, the world especially in Muslim countries. … We will continue to fight it until we see its defeat.”
“In past years, terrorism has been functioning in all of our countries… with no coordination” among them, he said in his keynote speech. “This ends today, with this alliance.”
The crown prince said the 40 countries were sending a “clear signal” that they would “work together to support the military, financial, intelligence and political efforts of every member state.”
He condemned the attack on an Egyptian mosque that killed more than 300 worshippers and said it would galvanize the Islamic military coalition.
“(The attack on a mosque in Egypt) was a very painful occurrence and must make us contemplate in an international and powerful way the role of this terrorism and extremism,” the Crown Prince said.
“The biggest threat from terrorism and extremism is not only killing innocent people and spreading hate, but tarnishing the reputation of our religion and distorting our belief,” the crown prince said in opening remarks….
