Tommy Robinson

Tommy Robinson confronts staff at Quilliam Foundation over article labeling him a white supremacist……..

The best line in the video is the one from the last man talking with him who refused to call him a white supremacist but said he was an Islamofauxbe.

Yeah, I know the ‘phobe’ part of the word is not factual, fear of Islam is not irrational, but that’s the best the guy could throw at him. This is the portion of Julia Ebner’s article that Tommy is referring to and demands a retraction. Ebner insists that she did not call him (Tommy) a white supremacist, but in fact, she specifically inferred it. There is no other way to interpret what she wrote.

That the far right has moved from the fringe into the mainstream demonstrates the massive support that white supremacist movements have attracted from digital natives. Their online followership often exceeds that of mainstream political parties: with over 200,000 followers, Tommy Robinson’s Twitter account has almost the same number of followers as Theresa May’s.

He was more than justified to pay a call on them.

Actually – there is, and the other way to interpret it is the grammatically-correct one that she specifically IMPLIED that Tommy Robinson is a white supremacist with the intention that readers would subsequently INFER it.

Imply – to try to influence another person’s opinion of something or somebody by giving them a broad hint without actually saying something directly and in full.

Infer – to pick up on that broad hint and understand what the first person is implying.
