Government needs ‘to END its SECRECY on overseas aid fraud’, MPs claim
THE Department of International Development (DfID) needs to ends it secrecy on fraudsters pilfering from Britain’s overseas aid, a Commons committee has warned.
DfID’s official figures on money lost to overseas corruption and scams came under fire during a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting yesterday.
MPs revealed they were sceptical about DfID’s “low” figures and said more needs to be done to publicise punishments for fraudulent individuals and organisations.
According to the committee, overseas aid chiefs have been too secretive about the sacking of fraudsters pilfering from Britain’s £13 billion aid budget.
