Cronyism Donald Trump

FINALLY SOME HEAD SENSE FROM PALIN: CARRIER DEAL REEKS OF CRONYISM, SETS BAD PRECEDENT FOR FUTURE SIMILAR DEALS……

I was one of those miffed by Palin’s early endorsement of Trump over Ted Cruz.

OK, the situation is what it is, lets move on. I cast my ballot for Donald to stop Hillary Clinton, and now as the president elect I want him to succeed. That doesn’t mean however that I am to become detached from my conservative philosophy in order to promote him. I can do both.

This time around I look not only at Donald Trump, but also at his VP-elect, Mike Pence. My beef is that “the deal” was not simply an open appeal to Carrier (and by default, United Technologies Corporation Building & Industrial Systems which owns Carrier) that his administration promises to lower all corporate taxes and deeply slash the EPA which is killing jobs. My gripe is that it singles out Carrier for special back room deals over that of its competition. That is cronyism. This is nothing to cheer about.

Sarah Palin Warns That Donald Trump’s Carrier Deal Could Lead to ‘Crony Capitalism’

“Let’s hope every business is equally incentivized to keep Americans working in America”

Former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on Friday criticized Donald Trump’s deal to keep Carrier jobs in Indiana, warning that it could lead to “crony capitalism.”

“Let’s hope every business is equally incentivized to keep Americans working in America,” Palin wrote in a column published Friday on the Young Conservatives website.

The deal—orchestrated by Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who is still governor of Indiana—gave the manufacturing company $7 million in state economic incentives, in exchange for keeping about 1,100 jobs in Indiana. Carrier still plans to move about 1,300 jobs to Mexico, Bloomberg reported.

“When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent,” she wrote.

“Meanwhile, the invisible hand that best orchestrates a free people’s free enterprise system gets amputated. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail.”
