Hillary Clinton sent her daughter Chelsea an email that contained information that is now deemed classified, a new batch of emails released Friday by the State Department shows.
The email originated with Michael Froman, a White House deputy national security adviser, Politico reported Friday evening. A senior policy aide to Clinton, Jake Sullivan, forwarded the message to the former secretary of state. Clinton then added “See below” to the email when she sent it to Chelsea’s account.
The emails appears to be about negotiations on global climate change, although much of the content is whited out, Politico noted.
Froman sent the first message in the chain on December 19, 2009, the day after Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama took part in whirlwind talks in Denmark over a possible international agreement to combat global warming. Among those sent the earliest message was White House environmental adviser Carol Browner.
