Espoo municipal politician busted for 22 kilos of khat in suitcases – told the agent he thought it was henna

22 kilos of khat was discovered in the suitcases of current deputy ombudsman. Abdifitah Ali Abdi, tells the Helsingin Sanomat on Monday that he has withdrawn his candidacy from the municipality election.

ESPOO Social Democrats municipal election candidate, now a deputy Abdifitah Ali Abdi , 26, has been convicted of a drug offense last year. Abdi was at the time of the offense in 2014, Espoo City Council and a deputy member of the cultural committee.

He still upholds these positions of trust.

Abdi’s judgment came out, when Helsingin Sanomat was going through of possible convictions in recent years of metropolitan area delegates and vice delegates

Espoo Social Democrats set Abdi  as amunicipal election candidate in 2012 and again in mid-September 2016 . He received 180 votes in the 2012 elections were sufficient to the council alternate seat.

ESPOO District Court sentenced Abdifitah Abdi 2015 October for a fine for a drug offense. He received a penalty of a fine of 30 days, according to which he received the minimum day fine of  six euros a day, calculated to be 180 euros to be paid.

Abdi did not appeal the verdict, so it is final.
