Why is the default position that Assad is “genocidal”, especially since for decades he has ruled Syria in relative stability?
For the last five years been telling us that he is fighting surges of foreign fighters – Saudi-funded ISIS and various “rebels”. Asymmetric war is ugly but to blame Assad is a tragic mis-read of the situation in Syria.

Seems the US can’t figure this one out.
