A teenage Albanian migrant who was granted asylum in Britain despite being wanted by Interpol has been jailed for the ‘violent and vicious’ murder of a young father.

Agustin Sula, 18, stabbed 21-year-old Polish national Mateusz Szleper seven times, piercing his heart and lungs, in a street attack in Hull, East Yorkshire, in revenge for a ‘perceived slight’ by one of the victim’s friends.

Sula arrived in Hull in 2014 as a fugitive after being convicted of a crime of theft by collaboration and sentenced to six months in prison in his home country.

However, he fled to Britain and did not end up serving the prison sentence and carried out the murder on February 14 earlier this year.

And sentencing Sula today at Hull Crown Court, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC told him he did not known if he would be ever released and ordered him to serve a minimum of 18 years.

The judge said: ‘Immaturity is understood by everyone but it was not your immaturity that governed your conduct that night after the initial incident, it was an innate aspect of your character – a desire for revengeful violence.
