British Army’s FIRST woman on the front-line: Sex-change soldier – who was born a man – becomes the only female in the 850-year-history of the Army who can fight in a combat role
Guardsman Chloe Allen, 24, from Cumbria, has become the first woman to be able to fight on the front line for the British Army after she changed her name from Ben. Ms Allen currently serves as a Guardsman in the 1st Battalion, Scots Guards, and signed up to the force in 2012 as a man called Ben. The rules regarding whether women can fight on the front line changed in July – and Ms Allen is officially the first woman to be able to do so.
