Hollande CAVES in to May on Calais and UK expats: French President makes key concessions but insists PM can’t restrict migration if she wants EU trade deal
Demanding to begin formal Brexit talks sooner, Francois Hollande has made two concessions to Prime Minister Theresa May on UK border controls in Calais and the right of Britons living in France to remain. But the French president warned Mrs May she will not be able to restrict migration if she wants to maintain Britain’s trading relationship with the European Union. The discussions come after German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the UK should ‘take a moment’ over its plans to sever ties with Brussels , while warning against leaving the negotiations ‘up in the air’.
