SWEDISH POLICE FORCE THROWS IN TOWEL: WE DOUBT OUR ABILITY TO TACKLE (ISLAMIC) TERRORISM

They are not Israeli cops for sure…..

It also show the lack of political will to do the right thing, suspend any muslim migration into the country, close down beachheads preaching Islam 101, deport any Muslim with dual citizenship who agitates for the Islamic State, and actively promote Western values as superior to all others and be once again proud of Swedish cultural heirtage.

The study focussed on ‘Preparedness for mass casualty attacks against public transport’ and was carried out by Annalie Holgersson, a researcher at Umeå University in northern Sweden.

She analysed research including a survey by Swedish number crunching agency Statistics Sweden which asked more than 850 police, ambulance and fire service workers how they felt they would respond in a fictitious attack on public transport in Sweden.

More than 60 percent of those questioned said they were unsure about how they would react, with police officers the least sure about their potential responses.

“The results do not show that the actual preparedness is bad, but that the professionals tasked with responding to a disaster scenario feel that they lack both the necessary knowledge and resources to deal with the consequences of a possible attack,” Holgersson told Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.

“If the differences between the police and the other professional groups in the study — the fire and ambulance services — depends on better self awareness or worse conditions in the police force, that I can’t say. Further research is needed,” she added.

One Response

  1. It’s funny, but I was thinking about the Israeli comparison vs other western countries just the other day, not in terms of police but with leaders. The response from the Israeli political/media class whenever confronted with a new terror problem is always “Okay, how can we fix this?” Jihadist suicide bombers crossing the border? The Israelis build a security barrier, and keep improving it whenever a weakness is found. Our leaders just keep telling us they don’t work. Jihadists fire rockets and mortars? The Israelis create Iron Dome. Our leaders would just say we can’t do anything about it. Jihadists start tunneling under the border into Israel? The Israelis start working on high-tech solutions to detect them before they can get close. But none of this would be possible if the Israeli defense industry’s problem-solving mindset wasn’t matched by the country’s leadership.

We know that Scandinavians are capable of creating world-class companies and solving technical problems. Ericsson and Nokia are two of the biggest players in the world when it comes to wireless infrastructure. Kone is #2 in the world market share in elevators. But the political media/class is completely weak and spineless. Look at the UK. This is the nation that created calculus, the electronic computer and the industrial revolution. And they can’t deport bogus asylum claimants? Without strong leadership willing to invest resources and back up the security services, none of the nation’s skills get focused on solving its most pressing problems.

Maybe I’m just reading between the lines here, but how much of the hopelessness expressed by those Swedish police officers can be attributed to the fact that deep down, they know that the politicians and media don’t have their backs? That they don’t have the legal or constitutional tooIs they need to protect their country, like detention of terror suspects for longer periods without charge and enhanced interrogation? I bet it’s a hell of a lot easier for the Shabak to get a warrant for a wiretap than it is for the Swedish police.

Maybe European countries should just leave border security to start-ups. They couldn’t possibly do any worse than the current situation.
