Hundreds of mourners gathered Friday morning at Mount Herzl Cemetery in Jerusalem for the funeral of IDF soldier Tuvia Yanai Weissman, 21, who was murdered in a stabbing attack at a supermarket in the West Bank’s Binyamin region on Thursday.
The Nahal Brigade member and married father of a four-month-old baby girl, was pronounced dead at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
Weissman, a resident of Ma’aleh Michmash, was off-duty at the time of the attack.
He was educated in Jerusalem and a preparatory military course in Kfar Eldad before enlisting to Nahal. He was married during his military service.
During the attack, a pair of Palestinian teenagers went on a stabbing spree in the Rami Levy supermarket in Sha’ar Binyamin on Thursday, leading to Weissman’s death and the injury of another shopper.
An armed civilian heard shouts and rushed toward the location of the attack in the eastern Binyamin region industrial area. He shot and seriously wounded the two 14-year-old terrorists. One later died of his wounds.
H/T: ChanahS: “This happened at the rami levi supermarket at shaar binyamin, just north of jerusalem. Typical of co-existence targets–attacking in areas where jews and arabs work and shop together. The same thing with all the attacks at the gush etzion intersection near us, and the attack in the rami levi branch parking lot, also at the gush etzion intersection.
