Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is a strong advocate of a switch to presidential system in his country, has said implementation of a presidential system while keeping the unitary structure of the state is possible, reportedly showing Hitler’s Germany as an example.

Speaking at a press conference following his return to the country after cutting short his trip due to death of pro-government journalist Hasan Karakaya, Erdoğan was asked whether a presidential system can be adopted while keeping the country’s unitary structure. “When we look [at other countries], we see that it is possible. You would see this when you look at Hitler’s Germany and other countries,” he was quoted as saying by T24 news portal.

Erdoğan is the staunchest supporter of the formation of a “Turkish-style” presidential system that he claims will help the country’s development by eliminating “double-headedness” in state governance and thus pave the way for a more effective decision-making system.

Back in April, Erdoğan argued that Turkey’s government had been already changed into a de facto presidential system, calling for a constitutional framework to “finalize” this transition.

  1. Dear Vlad,

Just heard conversation about Corsica – yes this is extremely important.
Unfortunately there is so little mentionting of that “Balkanization” idea.
I think it is actually a positive thing, allowing effectively to separate islam from the West by making these small (and temporary) geographical concessions in the form of sharia enclaves. Gaza strip comes to mind as an example of very hostile and well armed islamic enclave, but in Europe we shouldn’t allow neither luxury of EU “humanitarian” funding, nor an option for weapons smuggling. So it shouldn’t be that bad.

Anyway I digressed – on the matter of Turkey.
I think lot of negative info about Turkey is presently spread by RT because of recent round of Russian-Turkish animosity.
Please keep in mind, that Putin’s Russia is a fascist monster not in any aspect better than Turkey, also anti-Western, anti-American and anti-liberal. In particular, RT works systematically to undermine unity of NATO and EU, supporting all sorts of separatist and (real) neo-fascist groups in Europe. For nuclear power Russia, it is much easier to deal with fragmented Europe. By this and by other reasons BTW, – I’m not in favour of disbanding EU, I think it might be reformed by implementing the very principles – Western values – freedoms, secularism, unity of law, meritocracy, separation of powers etc. – that are presently under erosion from islam and the Left.

Happy New Year all Counterjihadi blokes and lasses,
jihadis weren’t able to spoil our holidays and let us hope we’ll contain them in their ZUS (Zoos) 🙂 and wait happily until they get extinct as nature perscribed for them.
