BLOCK BEGGARS – RECLAIM THE STREETS
NOTE: This is a non-violence oriented proposal based on passive resistance and civil courage. Nothing else. Moreover, it is my own initiative, neither of Avpixlat or the SD. I take responsibility for this, for something certainly controversial and unpleasant but according to me, a necessary text.
If you really want to remove beggars and have not received support from the authorities nor from your locality, you have to act yourself. Preferably together with some like-minded but otherwise alone.
[…]
What to do:
You get in front of the beggars who annoys you want to send away. Stand next to or in front of their paper cup and plate, not on their things. It could otherwise be used against you. They know exactly what rights they have concerning them or their things.
Standing a few inches from them so that they are blocked, but no closer. If they move against you, you have won and can accuse them of harassment, which is a FUSSY method they use but was willing to call 112 if they were messing too much and push on your legs.
You simply block their activity with your body until they move. Then follow after. If they pack up you have won.
I tested this awkward but effective method on the pedestrian street of Drottninggatan in Stockholm, at Brommaplan. I just stood there until they grumbled and moved themselves on . They did not call to their organization’s minions, and if they do it, you have won for when they commit crimes, if they shove you away because they harass you by touching you.
You have the right to stand wherever you want and apparently a beggar’s right to sit wherever they want as long as they are in a public place. If located inside the metro gains could call the SL and complain, the same thing in the shopping mall. Or just stand in front of them until they get bored and go out.
