Thanks to the unprecedented degree (at least in Finland, far more common in Sweden) of smearing and obfuscating and outright misrepresenting the facts by the iron triangle of the political elite, media and academy.
A marketplace gathering planned for Turku will not go ahead, according to a Finns Party release. The happening was intended to coincide with the party’s 20th anniversary meeting this weekend.
Party representative and high-profile labor unionist Matti Putkonen sent a release iterating the importance of celebrating the party’s successful journey alongside tackling topical issues and future policies.
“The degree of our success has been hard to swallow for some,” Putkonen writes. “This causes side effects,” the release also stated, “rowdiness” amongst them.
According to the release, amid the furore caused by MP Olli Immonen’s Facebook post, hate speech against the Finns Party has “quickly reached incomprehensible proportions.”
