“‘We cannot ignore the fact that young people who have been to good schools, have strong family backgrounds and are not suffering material deprivation have none the less chosen a violent extremist path,’ he told MPs yesterday.

‘That says to me that, while we must of course go on attacking deprivation, making sure we are a more inclusive country and tackling inequalities at home, what we are really looking for is the cause of the ideological linkages that people are making, and it is those we need to go after.’

NOTE: If not for the sheer number of adherents to the desert creed, importing them into the West, and their oil influence, European and N.American leaders in general would be talking a different tune about Islam.

Schools must report pupils to the police from today if they think they may grow up to become terrorists under a fresh government crackdown on extremism.

Teachers are told to ‘do the right thing and spot the signs’ by listening to conversations in lessons and monitoring changes in behaviour which suggest youngsters are being radicalised.

New guidance is being sent to headteachers today setting out how they should ‘look out for pupils who are at risk of being radicalised or being groomed’.
