The ongoing citizens’ initiative is now proceeding in the Parliament.

An initiative at the Kansalaisaloite.fi (Nationalpetition.fi) service to expel foreign offenders from the country has received more than 50 000 supporters. It means that the citizens’ initiative is progressing in the Parliament.

The name collection began in early November and will continue until early May.

Citizens’ initiative originators want to change the current law so that in the future foreigners who commit serious crimes will deported from Finland regardless of the length a prison sentence, and an entry ban placed on them. Exception would be made only in cases where a “security” expulsion would violate international agreements.

The undersigned also require that the residence permit of an alien found guilty  would be erased immediately.
