SOVIET SWEDEN: WE WILL POLICE THE NET FOR ‘WRONG OPINIONS’…….

Yeah, Sweden, ‘the third way”. To tyranny.

This comes to my desk by way of Fjordman (no stranger to persecution by the thought police and the smear media) on the heels of a story I posted just yesterday, concerning a blog by a Finnish deputy chief of police, Pekka Partanen, talking about how he would love to crush free speech.

So, we already have something similar here in Finland, and ironically, and absolutely nothing to be proud about, the Swedes follow the Finns at something and not the other way around.

net policeThis blatant encroachment of our civil liberties is an anathema to me, as well as it should be to everyone else. I could call this an evil joke, but it’s reality, and no joke. These morons really do believe that they alone are the purveyors of what is acceptable speech…. and what isn’t. They should resign in disgrace.

SWEDISH POLICE WILL PREVENT THE “WRONG” OPINIONS

In a recent article in Dagens Nyheter the newly appointed head of police, Dan Eliasson, explains that three new police units have been formed to “prevent crimes that threaten the open society” and will work to combat “the marshlands of the internet”, where people host opinions that are not in line with “everyones equal value”.

The article lulls the reader into a false sense of security with the headline “New Police Units will protect the demcoratic freedoms”, and the preamble starts off by listing a number of threats against the open society such as Charlie Hebdo, the Copenhagen shootings, young “Swedes” travelling to the Middle East to fight. But it turns out that the article had little to do with preventing terrorists but instead regarded setting up new special units in metropolitan areas aimed at upholding democratic freedoms by… limiting democratic freedoms.

“Threats and attacks on religious and ethnic minorities is a serious problem. We see that politicians, journalists and artists are exposed due to their opinions. A breeding ground for these threats and attacks is found on the marshlands of the internet, where a harsh tone is used against those who stand up for everyones equal value”.

What exactly constitutes a harsh tone and why should the police defend those who believe in a mistranslation of the UN Declaration of Human Rights?

“In the middle of all this we must not forget that Sweden is one of the worlds most tolerant and open societies. The majority have a view on immigration, multiculturalism, respect for sexual orientation and freedom of religion that is developing in a more tolerant direction. But this tolerance and opennness must always be defended. The police as an organisation have an especially great responsibility to embrace these values.”

That the department is forced to embrace multiculturalism and open borders doesn’t surprise me but what is interesting is that the article co-incides with a text written a couple of hours prior by Anne Ramberg, General Secretary of the Swedish Bar Association. She defends the tabloid Aftonbladets decision to co-operate with criminal and left-wing extremist “Research Group”, a scandal I wrote about here.

  1. If they are going to “police” the web then I hope they arrest people who display shameless anti-semitic hate speech …. for example, quoting the Quran, which is similar to Mein Kampf.

    1. Excellent logic. But you know as well as I, those who are on the receiving end of political power, will not be scrutinized, and those who challenge that power structure.

  2. If 100,000 policemen tell you that a cat is a dog, don’t believe them! How this applies to your life is up to you, not them. If they really wanted to do some good, they could be busy for the next 300 years chasing down the retrograde 7th Century opinions that are rotting out the internet, governments, international and intra-national relations, and public opinions. Your opinion is your own. If you cannot stand up for it in the face of abject tyrannical dictators, then you deserve what happens to you no matter where you live. A cat is still a cat.
