HELSINKI CITY COUNCILOR’S TERMINATION OF AGREEMENTS WITH ISRAELI BUS GROUP REJECTED BY BOARD……..

The Mayor of Helsinki ruled against Veolia boycott.

Background: Helsinki City town councilor Yrjö Hakanen terminated the agreements with the bus group Veolia, because Veolia belongs to the same international group that operates in the so called Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. The Helsinki City Board met on Monday to discuss the new deals with Veolia.

I was forwarded the following information:

In the meeting of the Helsinki City Board on 2 March, it was decided (as proposed by Mayor Jussi Pajunen) that the discussion of Veolia case has been now disclosed, the proposal of Yrjö Hakanen was not accepted (meaning that the Veolia can NOT be excluded  from cooperation on the basis of the arguments presented by Hakanen et al).

The minutes of the meeting are not yet on the website, but this information can already be read from the decisions of 2 March. The decision will be soon formally voted on by the City Council.”

NOTE: Hey Helsinki, here’s the list of those who voted for the boycott, please remove them come next election cycle.
