Anti-Israel bigotry and bias UN UNHRC

HEAD OF BIASED UN GAZA PROBE RESIGNS IN CYNICAL MOVE TO PROTECT HIS ANTI-ISRAEL REPORT…….

The anti-Israel UN hack couldn’t even bring himself to admit that Hamas is a terrorist organization.

UPDATE: Schabbas did consultancy work for the PLO! Taken from his blog post on his resignation (H/T: GS) :

The complaint about my brief consultancy, as I understand it, is not about the content, which is of a technical legal nature, but the implication that in some way I am henceforth beholden to the Palestine Liberation Organisation. Perhaps there is also the suggestion that I might tailor my opinions in one direction in order to generate more such consulting for remuneration. If I were indeed motivated by financial gain, it would be hard to explain why I would have accepted the position as Chair of the Commission of Inquiry, to which I have gladly devoted several months of work and for which there is no remuneration whatsoever.

William Schabas, UN Anti-Israel Investigator Resigns

Schabas’s resignation is a cynical attempt to protect his anti-Israel report that comes out in March, from accusations of bias.

UNHRC war crimes panel head William Schabas – Not a good Schabas

William Schabas, the man the UN Human Rights Council appointed to run yet another UN inquiry against Israel resigned on Monday, just prior to his report’s release this coming March, according to a Reuters report.

Schabas’s resignation appears to be a thinly disguised attempt to provide cover for the anti-Israel investigation and report, allowing the UN team to claim that Schabas’s anti-Israel bias had nothing to do with the final version.

Israel has repeatedly accused Schabas as being biased against Israel — and with good reason.

Schabas has said he wanted Netanyahu and Peres be brought to trial before the International Criminal Court for war crimes, but Schabas refused to describe Hamas as a terrorist organization.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday responded to the decision by Canadian jurist William Schabas to step down from the United Nations’ investigation into the recent Gaza war by saying that the report that he was working on should also be discarded.

The Schabas commission was established by the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), a body that Netanyahu said was an anti-Israel institution that has shown through its decision that there is no connection between it and human rights.

The commission has concluded collecting evidence, and is scheduled to present its conclusions to the UNHRC on March 23.

“This is the same body that only in 2014 passed more resolutions against Israel than against Iran, Syria and North Korea combined,” Netanyahu said. “Hamas, other terrorist organizations and the terror regimes around us are the ones who need to be investigated, and not Israel.”

Netanyahu said that Israel acted in accordance with international law during last summer’s conflict when it defended itself against rocket attacks from Gaza, while Hamas used civilians as human shields to fire on Israeli civilians.

“Israel will continue to defend itself against terror directed against it on all fronts,” he said.
