FINLAND: ROMA CLAIMING DISCRIMINATION IN HOUSING, JOB MARKETS……..

The Roma now jumping onto the victim wagon as well.

That’s rich. Obviously no one bothered to ask the Roma about their own discriminative practices of dictating where other Roma can live in Finland, according to tribal blood feud relations within their community. As well as the custom of younger Roma not being able to live above an older Roma, thereby limiting their options for residency in a certain area.

NOTE: In short, they discriminate against each other all the time.

Report: Roma claim discrimination in housing, job markets

Around half of all Finnish Roma say they have experienced discrimination in the housing market, according to a fresh report from Minorities Ombudsman Eva Biaudet. The report also found that Roma respondents said they faced discrimination in the search for work.

The Minority Ombudsman report looked at three areas of life in the attempt to map Roma experiences of discrimination and to compare them with the experiences of other minority groups in Finland, such as Russians and Somalis.

Respondents were polled on their experiences in acquiring housing, jobs and in inter-personal relations within the Roma community.

The report found that nearly 70 percent of the respondents (68.7) reported discrimination in all of the areas being studied.

Additionally, a similar proportion — 68.5 percent — said that they had experienced discrimination while trying to rent or buy a home. In terms of work, 53.8 percent said they’d been discriminated against in the search for work during the past five years.

The report compares these findings to a previous survey of Russian- and Somali-speakers conducted in 2009 by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights. That study found that 22 percent of Somali background and 11 percent of Russian background Finnish residents reported discrimmination looking for housing during the previous five years.

In the job market, some 41 percent of Somalis and 25 percent of Russians complained about discrimination.
