 Totalitarian.

Mikael Jungner is a Marxist political, bureaucratic hack, who was once in charge of the Finnish state owned (taxpayer funded) broadcasting company, YLE. The ideas floated by this jerk should cause every free speech advocate’s hair to stand on end. Sheeesh.

In a debate with Finns MP, Jussi Halla-aho, Jungner made the following statement that should be the prime focus of the article at the IltaSanomat, but sadly, it was the fact that there was a series of heated exchanges between Halla-oho and Jungner, not the latter’s brazen assault (idiotic/sophomore understanding) on free speech.

NOTE: Finland is in dire need of a ”First Amendment” of its own, and fast.

Jungner emphasized that in Finnish society any kind of thought can be brought forward, but the way in which it is brought forward, has to be regulated. He wondered what was the value in allowing abusive comments of people and what it brought to dialogue.

Emotions ran high Halla-aho and Jungner in debate – “You’re engaging in a kind of feminine bewilderment.”

MPs Jussi Halla-aho (ps) and Mikael Jungner (SDP) met in a hot debate in Helsinki on Friday .

Nominees for the European (parliament) elections, Halla -aho and Jungner were to debate each other on legislation related to freedom of expression in the evening at the Apollo Live Club in Helsinki.

However, the discussion meandered to other topics right from the beginning. The event was hosted by Pekka Vahvanen who brought up Halla -aho’s 2012 conviction for breach of religion and ethnic agitation . He asked Halla-aho, if he had a grudge against Jungner for demanding at the time Halla -aho’s dismissal from his chair at the Administration Committee because of his conviction.

You’re engaging in a kind of feminine bewilderment.

– Frankly, I do not have much of anything negative to say. We do not have much hate as love relationship at all with Michael , he is greeted properly in the corridors of Parliament, which can not be said of all, Halla -aho said .

Jungner said at the time as acting Social Democratic Party Secretary, the aim in getting Halla -aho to resign from his post was work orientated.

– I can say that this attempt to get Jussi to resign, did not give me any satisfaction in the least . Unfortunately, there was such an episode , and I hope we have been able to leave it behind, Jungner said .

“There went 20 000 votes “

In the end, the coaxed the MPs to hug each other as a sign of reconciliation.

– There went 20 000 votes from the both of us, Jungner joked.

After the familial beginning, the debaters soon got heated when the conversation moved to the topic itself. Halla-aho raised the issue of freedom of expression in the Soviet Union by telling a joke related to it and criticism about existing Finnish legislation, stating that the law was invoked at the time in the Soviet Union.

– The Soviet Union existed 70 years with its own legislation. Sure, all forms of legislation can be lived with.

Jungner said he was appalled at the tone and wondered, how Halla-aho can be compare current Finnish with Soviet atrocities.

– I have been in the early 1990s in custody for dissident conduct against the Soviet Union. I think that I know something about this , he said.

” You constantly bring a comparison with the Soviet Union “

Halla-aho denied he compared the laws of Finland and the Soviet Union.

Now you’re guilty of a kind of feminine bewilderment.

Jungner emphasized that in Finnish society any kind of thought can be brought forward, but the way in which it is brought forward, has to be regulated. He wondered what was the value in allowing abusive comments of people brought to conversation.

– The fact that you’re all the time comparing with the Soviet Union I think is strange, it is completely on a different scale.

Jungner replied to Halla -aho’s bewilderment, of how a 14- year-old girl raped by HIV positive man could get a smaller judgement than a person offending the prophet Muhammad.

 – Do you think that a 14 -year-old girl would have it any easier of a life here if Jussi Halla-aho could denigrate foreigners as he chooses, Jungner asked and got applause from the audience .

– That was Michael, frankly, a little pathetic. Of course, the criminality of crime must have some kind of proportionality , Halla-aho said , making a round of applause also .
