FINNISH CONTRACT MURDERER UPSET WITH SHORT VISITS WITH FAMILY, WANTS ‘CHANGE IN ATTITUDE’ IN PENAL SYSTEM…….

He should of thought about that before he snuffed out the life he took money to kill.

Why is this even in the media at all? I couldn’t care less what this man thinks, or that he even has something to say. Why did the gatekeeper(s) at taxpayer funded YLE think that this is an issue worth discussing, let alone approving a (faux) journalist to cover the story? I’ll tell you why, there is no such thing as proper journalism at YLE, that’s why.

Janne Raninen will be released no earlier than in two years’ time. Although most of his adult life has so far been spent in prison, he has decided that returning is not an option.

NOTE: There’s no family visits for the victim he coldly murdered, nor no release from the coffin he’s occupying either.

“Lifer” inmate demands change in attitude to family visitation

Janne Raninen, imprisoned on a life sentence for the contract killing of a man in 2003, has spent ten years in prison. Seven years ago he had a daughter, a fact which brought the subject of family visitation to the forefront for the inmate. Raninen has written a book on the issue, in which he calls for a change of attitude.

Raninen gets to see his 7-year-old daughter once a month in a family meeting. The unsupervised meeting in the prison’s family room takes two and a half hours, during which father and daughter make food, play and chat. The goodbye always comes too soon.

“The most annoying thing is that you can’t share the daily life of the child,” says Raninen. “I miss the fact that I could put her to sleep in the evening and make her breakfast.”

He claims that visits are too short, that prison facilities are inappropriate for children, and that he does not get to meet his daughter often enough. He’s well aware that his campaign will be opposed by many who believe prisoners don’t deserve better treatment, but he says that it’s his daughter who suffers under the current system.

“This does not require additional resources or new laws,” says Raninen. “It’s something that’s being adhered to that requires a change in attitude.”
