The ‘Leftist-sharia’ infatuated society of Sweden swirls from one extreme side to the other. What’s most important to them however, is the complete destruction of the existing order, and whatever pops up in its place, well, ….welcome to nirvana.
Hedenhös book pulled due to “outdated” values
Swedish Television’s advent calendar for children this year centres on a family from the stone ages, with the four main characters taken from a series of children’s books that has been read by generations of Swedes.
And coinciding with the television series about mum and dad Hedenhös and their two kids; a reprint of the old books – as a way for the publisher to reach new fans.
But. The renewed interest has also reminded of the distinctly stuffy gender roles in the original books – and a kind of colonial racism. Yesterday, the publisher announced it will no longer print one of the stories due to its out-dated values.
The Hedenhös books were written and characteristically illustrated by Bertil Almqvist in the 1950s. The family of pappa Ben, mamma Knota, the kids Sten and Flisa with their dog Urax get up to all kinds of adventure, travelling the world and in a way also time – like a kind of Forrest Gump-story, where the Hedenhös family is at the centre of everything that happens, and often the cause of big historic events – though they are supposed to be from the stone ages.
