Because contrary to the promoted narrative, headscarves are a political symbol, wherever there is a rise of Islamic fundamentalist agitation, promoting the spread of headscarf use is not far behind. It’s yet another reason why Western women of different beliefs, including heads of state and officials representing the state, should refrain from donning the headscarf.
