MOSCOW (REUTERS) – Russia’s senior Islamic clerics warned the country’s leaders on Friday unrest could erupt in Muslim communities in Russia and beyond if a court decision ordering the destruction of a interpretive translation of Quran is not overturned.
Tuesday’s ruling by a court in Novorossiysk, a city in southern Russia, ordered the widely read text outlawed under a Russian anti-extremism law that rights activists say has been abused by local officials out of prejudice or to persecute groups frowned upon by the dominant Russian Orthodox Church.
Rights campaigners said that the decision, which will apply nationwide unless it is overturned on appeal, comes dangerously close to banning the Quran itself.
Russia’s Council of Muftis sounded the alarm in an open letter on Friday to President Vladimir Putin, who has frequently called for unity among the leading faiths and warned that ethnic tension could tear Russia apart.
I take it the Koran was reduced to a pamphlet! LOL
Russian crimilal code has an article that resembles the laws against incitement of hatred in most Western countries.
Article 282 states the following:
”
1. Actions aimed at the incitement of national, racial, or religious enmity, abasement of human dignity, and also propaganda of the exceptionality, superiority, or inferiority of individuals by reason of their attitude to religion, national, or racial affiliation, if these acts have been committed in public or with the use of mass media,
shall be punishable by a fine in the amount of 500 to 800 minimum wages, or in the amount of the wage or salary, or any other income of the convicted person for a period of five to eight months, or by restraint of liberty for a term of up to three years, or by deprivation of liberty for a term of two to four years.
2. The same acts committed:
a) with the use of violence or with the threat of its use;
b) by a person through his official position;
c) by an organized group,
shall be punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of three to five years.”

If you read that you can easily see that portions of Quran can easily be interpreted as illegal. The same is actually true for incitement laws of the Western countries but in the West laws are only really enforced against the majority population and this is also explicitly stated by the authorities, even if the law itself does not say so.
If you remove all the hate speech contained in the unholy quran from it, the only thing that will remain is the cover of that vile book.
On the other hand, it’s funny to see how they threaten with violent acts in order to stop the ban on intolerant texts of the quran. And how they yell ‘oppression’ at this, but at the same time oppress non-muslims.
