You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.
Margret Thatcher, like her American counterpart, Ronald Reagan, laid the blueprint for prosperity and individual freedom in the 80’s. What resulted was the biggest expansion of wealth and liberty across the board for the average citizen, in both countries. But what one has to remember, is that both politicians were swimming against the mainstream thinking in both parties, which at the time, had given themselves over to the statist ”we can manage it all” thinking of the day. Government management of the private economy regardless of which party was in office at the time was the priority, and it was leading both countries to doom and disaster.
The political ”conservative” leadership” in both parties after these two political giants left politics resorted back to the status quo way of doing things, the lesson had clearly not been learnt. What we have seen since the passing of batons, has been one administration after the other robbing people of both their liberty (massive taxes and entitlement spending) and their freedoms (massive regulations by an unaccountable bureaucracy).
If one of the main goals is to withdraw from the EU, then all I can say is that every sensible person in the UK that felt the slightest affinity for the policies of Margret Thatcher, to vote UKIP, the Tories are completely rudderless.
