Wiesenthal Center: “Stunning Confirmation of Extensive Iranian Network Across Nine South American Countries Renders Iran – Argentine “AMIA deal” Null and Void

Jerusalem, 29, May 2013

Argentina’s special prosecutor on the AMIA Jewish Community Center’s Alberto Nisman has uncovered an Iranian terrorist network across the Americas. His compelling evidence proves that the 1994 Buenos Aires Jewish Center terrorist atrocity was not the last target of Iran and its Hezbollah agents.

“There is no question that the AMIA bombing was an action planned and carried out by Iranians and their agents. Prosecutor Nisman’s expose of the Tehran regime’s continent-wide tentacles must render the Iran – Argentine cooperation agreement on investigating the AMIA bombing null and void”, concluded Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Dr. Shimon Samuels and Sergio Widder, senior officials of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Among Nisman’s key findings:

– Tehran’s establishment of intelligence bases in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Surinam and Trinidad and Tobago, in addition to their activities in Argentina.

– Mohsen Rabbani, the Iranian Cultural Attache in Buenos Aires at the time of the AMIA bombing, was also the coordinator of infiltration throughout South America. His operative, Abdul Kadir, a former Guyana Congressman and Mayor, later was sentenced for conspiracy in a plan to attack New York’s JFK airport.

– The AMIA bombing was part of a larger picture, reflecting Rabbani’s activities beyond Argentina, and especially as terror coordinator for the region.

– The key role of embassies and Iranian diplomacy in these activities and the real scope and proportion of the Iranian and Hezbollah’s infiltration in the region.

Wiesenthal Center officials will share these findings with the 500 delegates attending the Global Forum for Combating Antisemitism currently under way in Jerusalem.
