STUPID OBAMA FOREIGN POLICY IN ACTION: LETS TRAIN SYRIAN JIHADIS IN JORDAN…….

And they’ll love us in return right?

Hell no. They use any training they’ve received by the U.S. and eventually train it back on them and their allies. Israel watches what happens in its backyard with great concern, it wouldn’t surprise to learn that the Israelis have their own operatives in th earea viewing the developments with field glasses.

NOTE: Obama would call this a training camp.

Americans are training Syria rebels in Jordan: Spiegel

BERLIN (Reuters) – Americans are training Syrian anti-government fighters in Jordan, the German weekly Der Spiegel said on Sunday, quoting what it said were participants and organizers.

Spiegel said it was not clear whether the Americans worked for private firms or were from the army but said some wore uniforms. The training focused on use of anti-tank weaponry.

Some 200 men have already received such training over the past three months and there are plans in the future to provide training for a total 1,200 members of the “Free Syrian Army” in two camps in the south and the east of the country.

Britain’s Guardian newspaper also reported that U.S. trainers were assisting Syrian rebels in Jordan. British and French instructors were also participating in the U.S.-led effort, the Guardian said on Saturday, citing Jordanian security sources.

    1. Neither were the Clinton or Bush jr. administrations all that smart, letting the CIA aid the ISI and its anti-American proxy warriors in Afghanistan (like Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the Taliban, Abdul Rasul Sayyaf, Jalaluddin and Sirajuddin Haqqani, all of them with links to al Qaeda, no less), even well after NATO started to meddle in Afghanistan.

Supposedly this idiocy has never ever seemed to raise the appropriate questions on a broader level within these administrations when needed. So what does that tell us about politicians and their skewed level of realism with regards to international politics ?

  1. It has been said “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. However these bozos in the political class never consider what happens when he is no longer your friend. The past century has taught them absolutely nothing.

    1. What happens in fact is the following: Geostrategic issues tend to glue (if you like) unnatural bedfellows together with regards to a common geopolitical concern. In the Cold War logic this has cemented the alliance between the US and the Zia Ul Haq regime in Pakistan to oust the Soviets and their Najibullah puppet regime from Aghanistan. Thus, the very simplistic logic “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” derives from this common goal and can work as long as both parties converge on the same intent and as long as geopolitical realities don’t change over time.

The key control over such a strategy in Afghanistan has been exerted however by the ISI, who had a different long-term agenda of not only kicking the Soviets out, but also of creating a Jihadist base in the country, from which Global Jihadism could fan out towards Central Asia (via Uzbekistan and Tajikistan), the Caucasus, Kashmir, and inevitably the rest of the world. With the collapse of the Najibullah regime, the CIA had no major role to play, but still decided to keep the old stratagem going, separate from official US government policy. Which is pretty baffling considering the fact that the US had established its major goal.

Supposedly the CIA probably assumed they were the controllers, and the Jihadist ISI-backed factions their pawns, which is a big mistake. The ISI acts consistently as a state within a state, it can operate independently from official government policy. The geostrategical circumstances changing, this leads to the situation where these so-called pawns start biting the hand that feeds them, implementing a strategy of their own against their former benefactors, while the American tax payer is bled dry to fund the CIA’s ineptitude and American politicians lull themselves to sleep. When push comes to shove and the shock of reality starts hitting the political elites like a ton of bricks (9/11), the indignity we feel has to be directed diplomatically against a government that is either colluding with the ISI’s strategy (like Musharraf’s presidency) or is effectively unable to exert any control over the ISI’s scheming. (like Zardari’s, who is in fact a Shi’ite, whilst the ISI is dominated by Salafi-oriented Sunnis receiving extra funds from Saudi Arabia)

  2. Don’t count on the CIA displaying any sort of realism when it comes to reevaluating the hairbrained schemes they have set up in the past. They have learned absolutely nothing from their past experiences nor the fact that most European and American Jihad converts actually keep moving back and forth between the Pakistani FATA*, where they receive terrorist training, and the countries where they are going to fight. Both the Benghazi debacle and Syria prove the point again.
