As it’s being reported, this was a real brazen attack, and weaponry used, coming from neighboring Libya.

    This was a very well planned attack with lots of inside information and help.This would have taken months to prepare. The facility is huge. Lots of commentators in the UK saying “oh, it’s a response to the French in Mali”. Rubbish. This was planned long ago, and they had no intention whatsoever of doing anything other than killing all the hostages. The Algerians knew it, which is why they went in so hard and fast. They had nothing to lose. If they could save some of the hostages, then that was a result. And that is indeed what happened…
