EDL Free Speech

EDL DEMO PELTED WITH ROCKS, BOTTLES, BRICKS AND BATS, POLICE ARREST NO ONE………..

This is what free speech in a pluralistic democracy looks like in a present day England. You can imagine how the media would cover a Leftist demo having been assaulted in a similar fashion. Whether you agree whole heartily with the EDL, in part or none at all, if you value your hard won freedoms, which includes the right to speak your mind, you have to be against the mob gathered against them throwing missiles. That was pure thuggery.

The EDL won that round, pure and simple like.

NOTE: If you’re sure of your POV, debate it, place it front and center in the market place of ideas and sell it, but be prepared to be verbally challenged with an opposing view, that’s the heart of a debate.

  1. The principles enshrined by the father of our modern police force, Sir Robert Peel , are to be found in the General Instructions given to the first Metropolitan Police officers in 1829.

Number five of nine states that it is the duty of officers “to seek and preserve public favour, not by pandering to public opinion; but by constantly demonstrating absolutely impartial service to law, in complete independence of policy, and without regard to the justice or injustice of the substance of individual laws, by ready offering of individual service and friendship to all members of the public without regard to their wealth or social standing”.
