What an exercise in stupidity.
It’s like the apparatchiks of the USSR holding celebrations of self promotion as the East Germans are driving in mass through Check-Point Charlie into the West. Face it folks, there is nothing ‘democratic’ or as I like to say, representational, about the government of the EU. It’s a soft tyranny, statism as they say.
Happily though, they have found time to hail the triumph of “participatory democracy” across the continent and even the European Commission’s loftiest bureaucrats admit to being “thrilled”.
But the mass triumph they are celebrating is not, of course, the inconvenient decision by Greek voters to reject the EU bail-out, nor the election of a French president not altogether au fait with the austerity consensus.
