anti-semitism in Norway Manfred Gerstenfeld

DR.MANFRED GERSTENFELD INTERVIEWS NORWEGIAN HANNE HERLAND: NORWAY IS THE MOST ANTI-SEMITIC COUNTRY IN THE WORLD……..

TRUTH TELLER!

The Tundra Tabloids republishes this interview with Hanne Nabintu Herland that was published yesterday at  Israel National News, with full permission from the author.

Finally, a prominent Norwegian who tells the truth. No longer is it only the domain of foreigners such as Bruce Bawer in his book, The New Quislings, or Alan Dershowitz in the Wall Street Journal and Dr.Manfred Gerstenfeld himself, the pioneer with Behind the Humanitarian Mask.

NOTE: There is also a news item in the interview which mentions the fears of the Norwegian Jewish community, something of which Dr.Gerstenfeld has mentioned in prior articles.

NORWAY: THE MOST ANTI-SEMITIC COUNTRY IN THE WEST

Manfred Gerstenfeld interviews Hanne Nabintu Herland

“The current Labor/radical left Norwegian government is promoting an extreme one-sided and negative stance toward Israel. It is responsible for creating a politically-correct hatred of Israel among many people in the country. This has made Norway, in my view, the most anti-Semitic country in the West. In Norwegian history, there has never been such an anti-Israeli attitude.”

Hanne Nabintu Herland is a Norwegian academic and a historian of religion. She has authored several successful books. The latest one Respect published in February 2012, received a lot of publicity and tops the country’s best seller list. Yet, there has been complete public silence regarding the sharp criticism she poses in the book against the current leftist government for its biased view on Israel.

Herland says, “Control on public opinion is so strong in Norway that it is questionable whether it can be considered a free democratic state. The Labor Party has widely used the terror attack by Anders Breivik against it on 22 July 2011 to further discriminate against any opposition and shut down public debate.”

She adds: “The Norwegian government indirectly accepts the Hamas agenda where its main goals include ethnic cleansing, terror, and genocide against the Jews. Labor Party Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre regularly defends Hamas in newspapers abroad. In February 2011, he did this in the International Herald Tribune for instance.

“Last year Støre was caught lying on a live program on Norwegian TV2. There he denied that he held continuous talks with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal. Yet Stǿre had to admit this when the reporter told him that Meshaal had mentioned these conversations. What initially may have been an act of naiveté is by now suspect of deliberate malice. In the long term, Støre is tarnishing Norway’s international reputation by acting as a Hamas defender.

“The way Norway funds Hamas with hundreds of millions of Norwegian kroner taxpayer’s money, is pure corruption. When African states buy their way to influence, we call it corruption. But in essence, the Labor Party is practicing the same – billions leave the country in order for Norway to buy friends in foreign states where they otherwise would have little or no influence.

“Despite major anti-Israel propaganda last year, a poll undertaken by Norway’s largest paper Verdens Gang found that 60% of the Norwegian people believes that Israel is right in claiming that coverage of it in Norwegian media is biased. This survey was done after the Israeli embassy in Oslo had filed a complaint against the state broadcasting authority NRK for its biased reporting.

“This anti-Israelism is often accompanied by anti-Semitism. Jewish children in Norwegian schools particularly suffer from it. According to a study, many of them are harassed much more than other minorities.

“One may wonder why the Norwegian establishment is continuously badgering the only democracy in the Middle East. Many in Norway and Europe at large no longer recognize the historical link of their traditional culture with the Jewish people. Those who spread the Ten Commandments laid the infrastructure for civilized societies. The Jews have contributed greatly to the development of European culture.”

In spring 2011, Herland published an article titled “Norway is the most anti-Semitic country in the West.” In it she wrote: “Culturally, we have much more in common with the Jewish people than one would think. Western civilization’s values have their cradle in Greek and Roman contributions, but when it comes to values, in the Hebrew-Christian contribution. The European humanistic view of the dignity of human beings regardless of rank, class or ethnicity, carries deep roots from Judaism. These values are at the core of what it means to belong to Western Civilization today.”

Herland observes: “The new Western secular values imply a rejection of respect for our culture’s historical link to the Jewish people. Many in the West do not understand that Islam’s radical religious movement projects maximum resistance against what they perceive as Western decadence and domination.

“The new Muslim friends of many Western secularists treat several minorities in Islamic countries with violence. Sharia law is considered a cultural alternative to the Western legal system. What started as the Left’s sympathy for the weak has turned into support for totalitarian coercion. This also includes backing a pronounced anti-Israelism. Today these undemocratic attitudes dominate the politically controlled voices in countries like Norway in a manner that clearly resembles Soviet propaganda.

“In March 2011, the renowned Harvard lawyer, Alan Dershowitz came to Oslo. He offered to lecture at three Norwegian universities without payment. They all turned him down. Thereafter, Dershowitz wrote an article in the Wall Street Journal where he conveyed how anti-Semitic Norwegian academics let him know that he was persona non grata. This affair made me ashamed to be Norwegian. I am looking forward to the day when the present government will be defeated. Then hopefully, an end will come to their propaganda and the misleading image of Israel which they continuously portray to the Norwegian public.”

  1. Actually, it appears that Hungary should claim the title. Unfortunately for Europe, the traditional longest hatred in the history of the world, is now complemented by the massive influx of former cave dwellers from many Islamic countries.
Europe lost 6 million well educated adult Jews, with their children and babies. The “holy” Kuran orders the slaughter of Jews . Whereas the “new” Testament is written to hate Jews. an order very gladly welcomed by the Protestant and Catholic churches. Wht the good Samaritan? They were the people who attempted to stop the building of the Second Temple. Why is Judas the “traitor?” Simple his name corresponds with Jude or Jew. Christianity and Islam share a very common bond. Unlike other religions in the far eats, whose people have had a connection with Jews for an even longer period.

    1. I agree with you in part Martin. Hungary ranks right up there with Norway, but lets remember one thing, Norway pretends that it’s the most humane and ethical country in Europe, when it’s clearly not.

As for the rest of what you said, while there are some portions of the New Testament that have been traditionally problematic for Jews, solely for the way it was interpreted to underline political, and traditional anti-Semitic policies, the bulk of the NT is traditionally understood to have been (for a season) an intra-Jewish squabble, whereas when it later left the Jewish fold and an irreparable divide developed, did those problematic texts take on new life and meaning.

The Koran however, is something altogether in its own class. The anti-Semitism is almost with each pages’s turning. I highly reccomend my good buddy, Dr.Andy Bostom’s book, The Legacy of Islamic Anti-Semitism.

  2. Thank you so much for digging up and sharing these news and facts, K! Don’t know what I’d do without your constant stream of important information.

  3. I am from Hungary thinking to move to Norway…. well as I can see, the situation none the better there. But I have to tell you, that here untill the economy was on the rise, the antisemitism, and the anti Israelism was a lot less. Historically in Hungary the jewish community contributed to the country a lot. Before the II WW there were about 800.000 jews here. The hungarians handed their jews to the gas chamber, as nothing. Today I would say there is still an ample jewish community here, about 80.000 as opposed to Norway 2.000. Now as the economy plunges, the hungarians go to the old form: find someone to blame— the jews. It is not for the love of the Islam, or to get together against a common enemy. I cannot understand, what can be the goal for these politicans, in a country where life is a lot easier, and the standard of living a lot higher than here. I am only concerned, but I will stand up, and not shut up.

  4. You confuse criticism of Israel with antisemitism. Isn’t it time Israel takes some responsibility for its actions instead of always playing the victim? There aren’t a lot of Jews in Norway, so there’s not much hatred towards Jews either. However, there are some people who are able to see through the lies and propaganda.

    1. Anti-Semitism is shrouded in anti-Israel vitriol. No other state in a similar situation receives the same kind of attention than the lone (and only) Jewish state does. Treating the Arabs like they mere bystanders, without any form of culpability, is in fact racism. No one is saying that Israel is perfect, no state is, it’s just that there are many who are more than willing to take the situation and spin it to their own advantage in hating the Jews and churning up Jew hatred.

      1. So what you’re saying is that being anti-Israel and being anti-Jewish is the same thing? That’s where the problem lies. Saying that ‘Treating the Arabs like they mere bystanders, without any form of culpability, is in fact racism’ is nonsense. Any criticism of Israel, no matter how justified, is labeled antisemitism. I’ll admit that transgressions have been done by Palestinians too, but it’s undeniable that Israel is the main aggressor in this particular conflict. What about Israel’s role in dragging the United States into war when it clearly is not in America’s interest? Dragging USA into a war with Iran could lead to World War 3. The problem in America is the influence of pro-Israel lobbies such as AIPAC and the Presidents’ Conference among others which represent a foreign nation and not the American people. When there’s a conflict between American interests and Israeli interests, American interests should prevail. But they don’t. How else do you end up with travesties such as the USS Liberty incident?

        1. What I’m saying is most anti-Israel voices at one time or another repeat classic anti-Jewish tropes when mentioning Israel. Not understanding that is where the problem lies. Arabs are dealt with like mere standbyers, as if they have no culpability in the creation of the conflict and its continuance. Treating them like children is an act of racism. Israel reacts to pali aggression, like any state would in similar circumstances. Israel is the US’s main ally in the region and rightfully so. The US however serves its own self interests first second and third, it’s wrong to assume Israel has some kind of magical pull over the US government. The State Department has long been known as an anti-Israel institution. Also, the Jews have had miserable success in convincing the US government not to arm Israel’s enemies,so that alone dispells the myth of AIPAC’s reach and influence. We are already in WWIII, its with Islam. as for the USS Liberty, its one of the pet canards used by vitriolic anti_I
Israel voices, I could use the same arguments to tar the US if I wanted to which has been involved in far more similar incidents than Israel. Shit happens in war.
