Two Iranian naval ships have sailed through Egypt’s Suez Canal into the Mediterranean, in a move likely to be keenly watched by Israel.

“Two Iranian ships crossed through the Suez Canal (on Thursday) following permission from the Egyptian armed forces,” a source in the canal authority said on Friday.

The destroyer and a supply ship could be on their way to the Syrian coast, the source added. Iran and Syria agreed to cooperate on naval training a year ago, and Tehran has no naval agreement with any other country in the region.

  1. As usual, the MSM gets it wrong.

    From the BBC story:

“The destroyer Shahid Qandi and its supply vessel Kharg have passed through the Suez Canal but their destination remains unclear.”

    What are they, stupid?

    It should read something like:

The supply vessel (loaded with illegal arms and Revolutionary Guards personnel willing to shoot civilians) Kharg, and its armed escort (to provide defense against possible Israeli attack), the destroyer Shahid Qandi, passed through the Suez Canal enroute Syria (where said weapons and personnel will be utilized to murder more Syrian civilians).

The Israelis should mine the ports of Tartus and Latakia.
