When you look up the word ‘moron’, Thomas Friedman’s picture is right there next to it.
Yep, according to Friedman, the Muslim Brotherhood is “progressive”. He would be right if he was using progressive in the negative, like robbing people of their liberty, but what he really meant by it was…that they’re virtuous, they’re going to be a positive force for good in Egypt. Mark my words, Thomas Friedman we’ll go down in history as the equivalent of Walter Duranty. KGS

Egypt needs ‘collective action,’ says renowned US journalist

CAIRO: While the Islamist majority in parliament was expected, Egypt cannot be ruled by just one entity, renowned American journalist Thomas Friedman said in a lecture Monday at the American University in Cairo (AUC).
Despite the long history of the Muslim Brotherhood and their strong organizational capacities, Friedman asserted that Egypt is too big to be lifted by one entity.
“We have to confess that anyone in power now has to take very harsh and swift decisions, and the idea of having only one leader with a vision no longer exists,” Friedman said, adding that Egypt needs “collective action.”
Friedman said that the Islamist sweeping the vote in the latest parliamentary elections was normal and expected.
“For decades, Egyptians were missing the Arab nationalist, and most importantly, an authentic political alternative during Mubarak’s rule, now they finally found it represented in the 83-year-old Islamist group of the Muslim Brotherhood,” Friedman said.
“The Muslim Brotherhood is legitimate, authentic, progressive alternative. Only faced by the four-month old liberals, they had to win,” he added.
