FRANCE: WOMAN FINED FOR DRIVING WHILE WEARING A BURKA……..

She should have been telling jokes on a stage.

The only thing I disagree with, is the comparison with smoking or eating, it depends upon if the person driving is a slob, not minding mayonnaise or burn holes all over the seats and floor board. A person driving with a sack over the head is always a danger to traffic.

That said, here’s one place a person cannot be a danger to others with their entire head encased:

  • ‘The officer who stopped her said she was driving hesitantly and clearly could not see properly’

A Muslim woman has been fined for driving while wearing a burka because the garment ‘reduced her field of vision’.

Police who stopped the woman in France compared wearing a veil over the face behind the wheel to driving with ice on the windscreen, eating a sandwich or smoking a cigarette.

The woman was handed a £28 on-the-spot fine under article 412-6 of the highway code, which states: ‘Field of vision must not be restricted by either passengers, objects being transported or by the position of non-transparent objects on the windows.’

She was also told she was in breach of the country’s controversial burka ban imposed last April, which outlawed anyone hiding their face in public, including in streets, shops, restaurants and cars on public roads.

Police said the woman was pulled over while driving in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany, on Thursday.

Spokesman Laurent Dufour added: ‘The officer who stopped her said she was driving hesitantly and clearly could not see properly.

  1. This woman knows perfectly well that driving with a face mask is illegal. She is doing it with full approval of her family and possibly the local imam, as a provocation, with intent to subvert the laws and culture of France. For such a crime, deportation of all her, and all who support her must be the appropriate punishment – a simple fine will on;y lead tp further provocations.

  2. If you want to wear something that restricts your vision while you are walking, and you walk into a lamp pole, that’s your problem. I may even laugh at you. Indeed, people do it all the time staring at their cell phones and texting while walking. When you wear a vision restricting garment and then choose to drive, well, then you are a menace to society, and what you hit is likely to be another person, which could be me, or you, or your child, then I have no problem with the ban. She can claim it’s unconstitutional, or that it’s religious discrimination, but the needs of the safety of the public should always come first.
