Netanyahu US/Israeli Relations

BIBI SCHOOLS BAMSTER ON MIDDLE EAST REALITY……..

This is why it was important that Bibi Netanyahu win the last Israeli parliamentary elections, does anyone seriously believe that Kadima’s,Dippy Livni, or Labour Ehud Barak would have stood up to Obama like Netanyahu? It’s not even close. No one is perfect, we’re all human beings, but the Tundra Tabloids seriously doubts that any of the representatives of the bigger parties in Israel could have done a better job of telling Zero to take a hike. Israeli Prime Minister schooling the U.S. president: “Peace based on illusions will crash eventually on the rocks of Middle East reality,”

Israeli rebuke of Obama exposes divide on Mideast

(Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bluntly told President Barack Obama on Friday his vision of how to achieve Middle East peace was unrealistic, exposing a deep divide that could doom any U.S. bid to revive peace talks.

In an unusually sharp rebuke to Israel’s closest ally, Netanyahu insisted Israel would never pull back to its 1967 borders — which would mean big concessions of occupied land — that Obama had said should be the basis for negotiations on creating a Palestinian state.

“Peace based on illusions will crash eventually on the rocks of Middle East reality,” an unsmiling Netanyahu said as Obama listened intently beside him in the Oval Office after they met for talks.

Netanyahu insisted that Israel was willing to make compromises for peace, but made clear he had major differences with Washington over how to advance the long-stalled peace process.

Netanyahu’s resistance raises the question of how hard Obama will push for concessions he is unlikely to get, and whether the vision the U.S. leader laid out on Thursday to resolve the decades-old conflict will ever get off the ground.

Despite assurances of friendship by both leaders, this week’s events also appeared to herald tense months ahead for U.S.-Israeli relations, even as the Arab world goes through political tumult and Palestinians prepare a unilateral bid this fall to seek U.N. General Assembly recognition for statehood.

  1. At this juncture perhaps Netanyahu should bring to a close to these repeated visits.

On the last occasion he was insulted by Obama – a man with no class – and this time was presented with an impossible deck of cards with which to negotiate.

Either Obama is very ignorant about the political reality of the Middle East, is simply delusional, is just incapable of coming to grips with the complexity of the issues, is a closet Muslim who would like to see Israel on the slide to extinction, or just doesn’t care one way or the other.

I have always been intrigued by his motivation and just what is it that drives his agenda.

Whatever it is that drives him he seems to me a pretty ordinary guy to have achieved the most powerful office in the land.

As for the next candidate to stand against him in a few years time, again I ask who is there?

Not being an American I don’t want to criticize American participants on TTs, but to me it is a great pity that to stand up and offer oneself as a candidate, one needs a huge amount of money.

    It shouldn’t be like that.

There must be so many fine and intelligent Americans who would make great Presidents who will never be able to take the initial step and put up their hand.

It all comes down to the almighty dollar (not so flash these days) and that’s a shame – don’t you think?
