FORMER BASKETBALL STAR TO VISIT ISRAEL ON PROMISE TO FATHER WHO LIBERATED NAZI DEATH CAMP……..

I grew up knowing him as Lew Alcinder, the rest of the world knows him as Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Regardless of what the Tundra Tabloids thinks of his choice of belief, I’m glad to see him being respectful to his father’s dying wish to visit with the rabbi who he rescued as a small boy during WWII. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to visit Israel

Former NBA star, who is making film about WWII, to meet Rabbi Lau whom his father liberated from Nazi concentration camp

American basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will visitIsrael in July and meet with Rabbi Israel Meir Lau to discuss a film that he is making about World War II, the rabbi said recently.

The film is based on the book “Brothers in Arms”, which Abdul-Jabbar co-authored and deals with the American troops who liberated Nazi concentration camps in the end of World War II. Abdul-Jabbar’s own father served on the 761st Tank Battalion, which liberated the Buchenwald Concentration Camp in Germany.

  1. It will be interesting to see what comes of this. Holocaust denial is common in Arab League nations. Israel hatred is also common in Muslim nations. Yet here is one of America’s more prominent Sunni Muslims visiting Israel to acknowledge the Holocaust on behalf of his father’s wish.

This is a rather compelling news story, but there are two potential news stories that may come out of this visit.

    1. What will Kareem Abdul-Jabbar do with the interview material?
    2. What will Hamas, PLO, Hezbollah types say and/or do about the visit?
