KNEE SLAPPER OF THE DAY: DEM CONGRESSMAN JOHN LEWIS THINKS PREAMBLE OF DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE IS IN THE US CONSTITUTION…….

These are the dull knives in the governmental kitchen drawer who want to run people’s health care, while they have screwed up everything else, like Social Security and medicare and Medicaid. Stunning. John Lewis is a buffoon, as is the rest of the loon Left. KGS

NOTE: The US is in decline by accepting the socialist’s premise that a small clique of temporary politicians and bureaucrat ‘know-it-alls’ can run society better than the wealth in wisdom of the many. It’s foolish, irresponsible and the American people will not stand for it.

Rep. John Lewis Says Declaration’s ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ Language and 14th Amendment Authorize Congress to Force People to Buy Health Insurance

(CNSNews.com) -Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) said on Tuesday that the government should require individuals to buy health insurance and cited the Preamble to the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence’s “pursuit of happiness” language and the 14th Amendment as the sources of Congress’ authority to enact such a mandate.

“I think people should be required to get health insurance. We require people to get insurance for their automobile state by state but the federal government has an obligation to encourage by law, moral persuasion, to get people to get health insurance,” Lewis told CNSNews.com on Tuesday after a House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee hearing in opposition to Republican efforts to repeal the health-care law enacted last year.

NOTE: The comparison with people compelled to purchase drivers insurance is also ridiculous. No one compels a person to purchase a car to get them to purchase the needed insurance to drive it, there are other modes of transportation like taxis, buses, trains etc.. Also, the Commerce Clause effects business transfer of commerce across state lines, not individual purchase of a commodity. This congressman must have taken a powder during the reading of the US Constitution during the opening of the 112 Congress, unfortunately presence in the chamber was not made mandatory.
