Government Says 41 Percent of Kurdish Women Are Circumcised
ERBIL, Iraqi Kurdistan: A survey by the Kurdistan Minstiry of Health shows that 41 percent of women have gone under the practise of female genuital mutilation (FGM).
The survey was carried out in July this year. The results of the survey were announced during a campaign to raise awareness on violence against women in Kurdistan earlier this week.
Part of the campaign has focused on FGM. The survey by the government shows that mothers are the main party responsible for forcing their daughters experience the painful ritual and then grandmothers and fathers.
The survey’s results show that none of the participants in Dohuk, Kurdistan’s smallest of the three provinces, were circumcised while the highest rate of FGM was in Sulaimai.
Erbil, Kurdistan region’s capital, came between Sulaimani and Dohuk. According to the survey, most of the women were circumcised while they were under five years old.

Mohammed approved of the practice for girls. Book 41 (Kitab Al-Adab or “General Behavior”), Hadith 5251 states: “Narrated Umm Atiyyah al-Ansariyyah: A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband”.
The “spiritual leader” of the Muslim Brotherhood, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi; “It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a midwife: ‘Reduce the size of the clitoris but do not exceed the limit, for that is better for her health and is preferred by husbands’. The hadith indicates that circumcision is better for a woman’s health and it enhances her conjugal relation with her husband. It’s noteworthy that the Prophet’s saying ‘do not exceed the limit’ means do not totally remove the clitoris… Anyhow, it is not obligatory, whoever finds it serving the interest of his daughters should do it, and I personally support this under the current circumstances in the modern world.”

First of all, this cutting clitoris is a bullshit thing… from my opinion, i will say, Prophet said that probably just because the over enthusiastic parents might totally cut it off and they may make a severe damage which may cause life threat to a girl… Otherwise, it’s a girl’s own matter if she want it or not… common, my sex life is my headache… not my parent’s headache… their headache should be my health…

Muslim Boy, as long as Islam remains in the hands of the four schools of jurisprudence, women will continue to be subjected to ever horror imaginable. It is Muslims themselves that integrate terrorism, murder and mayhem into Islam, not me, I just document it. Turn ever page of the Koran, and what will greet you is one horror after the other that includes open ended calls for the faithful to commit in every age.
