Folks, the mind of the Democrat gives not a toss about whether his/her scheme endangers the world’s greatest experiment in self government, “for the ends justifies the means” is the only thing that such political animals hold dear in their spiked dried up hearts.
The electoral commission is designed to keep certain select provinces from holding, wielding too much power over the rest of the country. Here in Finland, its own electoral commission was voted out of power over a decade ago, and now, surprise surprise, the big cities elect the government, because they no longer need a cross section of society in order to get into power.
This is exactly what this Democrat run legislature in Massachusetts is trying to do. This Democrat stronghold is trying to end the process by which a cross section of America decides who will run the US every 2 to 4 years, in hopes that other legislatures will follow suite of their utter stupidity. These statist morons want the Democrat strongholds of the big cities to decide who gets elected into high office, not the electoral college. this is gerrymandering of the highest order.
The Republicans (of the RINO variety) are also guilty of gerrymandering the election system with their socialist counterparts when they concocted the system of redrawing of the map of election precincts in order to secure “safe” voting areas for their candidates they pick to run in those areas. Nowadays, the peoples’ actual votes are of less importance than the success of the party’s in any given election.
The ending of the electoral commission would be the final nail in the coffin of the American republic, which would be more like the European system than anything the founding fathers of the United States of America envisioned for the new republic. That is what the Democrats in Massachusetts are trying to do, and the people have to stop them in their tracks. KGS
Mass. Legislature approves plan to bypass Electoral College
The Massachusetts Legislature has approved a new law intended to bypass the Electoral College system and ensure that the winner of the presidential election is determined by the national popular vote.
“What we are submitting is the idea that the president should be selected by the majority of people in the United States of America,” Senator James B. Eldridge, an Acton Democrat, said before the Senate voted to enact the bill.
Under the new bill, he said, “Every vote will be of the same weight across the country.”
FROM THE COMMENTS:
“The end of the Electoral College will be the death knell for any type of fair process to elect the President. Not everyone is pleased with the current system especially the loosing party. However just as the key battle ground states could sway an election, the popular vote system in a country as large as the US all a party would have to do is campaign in the mega population centers and not even go to the rural areas. A lot of ‘street’ money could ‘buy’ a victory.”
“Mass. is a heavy DemocRATic state the Dems are already reading the ‘tea’ leaves for the 2012 Presidential election, and are running scared. Look for them to try a massive amount of devious tricks and procedures they feel they must win at all costs. Some feel they have earned the name of ‘The Dirty DemocRATS'”
THE TT: They both are spot on, and right on the money. That’s what’s at stake here, making it easy for the politicians to control the elections and truly bypass the citizens that “cause them trouble”. In the future, it’s not the individual votes that matter, but the overall success of the party.
