Obama: Thank you, I have now healed all those rifts
Spencer: Platitudes and Naivete: Obama’s Cairo Speech (he nails it)
Atlas/Pamela Geller: Obama to Ummah: “America is not – and never will be – at war with Islam” Usama: Called for “Long War Against Infidels” (she nails it as well)
Where does one begin? Obama has just concluded his long awaited speech in Cairo, and towards the end of his speech, and in a very anti-climatic way, my computer screen went blank due to a local power failure. So that is how the Tundra Tabloids will approach the Obama speech, “what it lacked in substance, it more than lacked in logic, factual accuracy and staying power”, the speech just doesn’t hold up under closer scrutiny. Starting even from the very first paragraph.
Obama: “For over a thousand years, Al-Azhar has stood as a beacon of Islamic learning, and for over a century, Cairo University has been a source of Egypt’s advancement. Together, you represent the harmony between tradition and progress. I am grateful for your hospitality, and the hospitality of the people of Egypt. I am also proud to carry with me the goodwill of the American people, and a greeting of peace from Muslim communities in my country: assalaamu alaykum.”
Let us take a look what Dr.Andrew Bostom has to say about Al-Azhar:
For over a thousand years, Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, has served as the academic shrine—much as Mecca is the religious shrine—of the global Muslim community. Al Azhar University and its mosque represent the pinnacle of Islamic religious education.
A front page New York Times story published Saturday January 10, 2009, included extracts from the Friday sermon (the day before) at Al Azhar mosque pronounced by Egyptian-government appointed cleric Sheik Eid Abdel Hamid Youssef. Referencing well-established Antisemitic motifs from the Koran (citations provided, below), Sheikh Youssef intoned,
Muslim brothers, God has inflicted the Muslim nation with a people whom God has become angry at [Koran 1:7] and whom he cursed [Koran 5:78] so he made monkeys and pigs [Koran 5:60] out of them. They killed prophets and messengers [Koran 2:61 / 3:112] and sowed corruption on Earth. [Koran 5:33 / 5:64] They are the most evil on Earth. [5:62 /63]
That, ladies and gentlemen, is what passes for normal inside the halls of one of Islam’s most famous institutions for Islamic learning. Bostom now expounds upon the words of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi:
Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi wrote these words in his 700 page treatise rationalizing Muslim Jew hatred, Banu Isra’il fi al-Qur’an wa al-Sunna [Jews in the Qur’an and the Traditions], originally published in the late 1960s, and early 1970s, and then re-issued in 1986/87: 1
[The] Qur’an describes the Jews with their own particular degenerate characteristics, i.e. killing the prophets of Allah, corrupting His words by putting them in the wrong places, consuming the people’s wealth frivolously, refusal to distance themselves from the evil they do, and other ugly characteristics caused by their deep-rooted lasciviousness…only a minority of the Jews keep their word….[A]ll Jews are not the same. The good ones become Muslims, the bad ones do not.
Tantawi was apparently rewarded for this scholarly effort by being named Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University in 1996, a position he still holds. These are the expressed, “carefully researched” views on Jews held by the nearest Muslim equivalent to a Pope—the head of the most prestigious center of Muslim learning in Sunni Islam, Sunnis representing some 85% of the world’s Muslims. And Sheikh Tantawi has not mollified such hatemongering beliefs since becoming the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar as his statements on the Jews as “enemies of Allah, descendants of apes and pigs” 2, the legitimacy of homicide bombing of Jews, 3 or “dialogue” with Jews (just below), make clear. 4
…anyone who avoids meeting with the enemies in order to counter their dubious claims and stick fingers into their eyes, is a coward. My stance stems from Allah’s book [the Qur’an], more than one-third of which deals with the Jews…[I] wrote a dissertation dealing with them [the Jews], all their false claims and their punishment by Allah. I still believe in everything written in that dissertation. [i.e., from above, in Banu Isra’il fi al-Qur’an wa al-Sunna]
Tantawi’s case illustrates the prevalence and depth of sacralized, “normative” Jew hatred in the contemporary Muslim world. Even if all non-Muslim Judeophobic themes were to disappear miraculously overnight from the Islamic world, the living legacy of anti-Jewish hatred, and violence rooted in Islam’s sacred texts—Qur’an, hadith, and sira—would remain intact. The assessment and understanding of Islamic antisemitism must begin with an unapologetic analysis of the anti-Jewish motifs contained in these foundational texts of Islam.
Now mind you, this is just the very first papragraph from Obama’s ground breaking speech, that he chose to make under the auspices of a university that’s run by an openly anti-semitic Imam, and shows the naivety and ignorance of the man and his staff.
Obama then launches into the worn out meme of Western colonialism that the Arab world had to endure, but mentions nothing of the spread of Islam and its colonialism that other countries had to endure. No need to look any further than modern Greece and the Balkans. Obama states:
“Moreover, the sweeping change brought by modernity and globalization led many Muslims to view the West as hostile to the traditions of Islam.”
Civility, rule of law and modernity is indeed hostile to the barbarity of Islam, we do not desire to be placed under that form of totalitarian rule. So indeed, sweeping changes has made the Islamic world to preceive the West as being hostile, but all that terrorism and stealth jihad isn’t helping its image here in the West either.
Obama: “I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles – principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.”
Here Obama and his plethora of advisers totally miss the point, respect is earned, not doled out in order to assuage hurt feelings. To date, the Islamic world, due to its overt anti-semitism, racism and outright bigotry and human-civil rights abuses, does not deserve any respect whatsoever. It’s another reason for the call to dismantle the UN and build an organization exclusively for fully democratic states only, to be taken seriously. The OIC has thoroughly corrupted the UN’s institutions, that in itself is enough to warrant throwing huge cow pies at the notion of shared mutual respect with Islam. Forget about it.
Obama: As the Holy Koran tells us, “Be conscious of God and speak always the truth.” To bad lying to the infidel is an accepted means of conducting business by Muslims with the unbeliever. Why Obama chooses to do the lying for Islam is for him to decide, but does manage to set the stage for some of the most outrageous portions of his text.
Obama: As a student of history, I also know civilization’s debt to Islam. It was Islam – at places like Al-Azhar University – that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe’s Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires; timeless poetry and cherished music; elegant calligraphy and places of peaceful contemplation. And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality.
I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America’s story. The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco. In signing the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796, our second President John Adams wrote, “The United States has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims.” And since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States. They have fought in our wars, served in government, stood for civil rights, started businesses, taught at our Universities, excelled in our sports arenas, won Nobel Prizes, built our tallest building, and lit the Olympic Torch. And when the first Muslim-American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers – Thomas Jefferson – kept in his personal library.
What a lying sad sack. One day with Fjordman is enough to dispel a thousand years of so called Islamic contributions to the worlds’ civilization. Obama is either totally ignorant about history, or a disingenuous liar.
“When the American Founding Fathers in the eighteenth century discussed how the shape of their young Republic should be, they were influenced by, in addition to the English parliament and the French thinker Montesquieu (who was inspired by the British political system), descriptions of democratic Athens and the Roman Republic through Aristotle’s political texts and Cicero’s writings, among other things.
None of these texts were ever available in Arabic, Persian or Turkish translations. Cicero was extremely influential in European thought from the Renaissance through the Scientific Revolution to the Enlightenment, yet totally ignored by Muslims. Roman law is secular and changeable, unlike sharia which is eternal and institutes a religious apartheid system. Roman law was used by Europeans, but not by Muslims. Of the Greek heritage, Muslims even during the so-called “golden age” were uninterested in the concept of democracy, men ruling themselves according to man-made laws.”
Jefferson’s copy of the Koran was in fact a neccessary tool to understanding the enemy the US was fighting in the late 1700’s, nothing more and nothing less. He relegated that book somewhere between Christianity and paganism.
William Welty, Ph.D.: “Jefferson also figured that the best way to learn about the political, military, social, economic, and religious agendas of America’s enemies was to read the best textbook on all things Muslim. So he read the Koran in what for his day was a state-of-the-art translation into English directly from the Arabic. Jefferson’s copy of the Koran equipped him with everything he needed to know on how to respond to threats from the caliphates of the early 1800s.”
Here is what US President John Adams wrote about Islam:
In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle.
Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind.
THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE.
Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extinction of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men.
The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. It is, indeed, amongst the mysterious dealings of God, that this delusion should have been suffered for so many ages, and during so many generations of human kind, to prevail over the doctrines of the meek and peaceful and benevolent Jesus (Blunt, 1830, 29:269, capitals in orig.).
So….what’s with Obama’s history lessons, did he mean the history lessons learned in Indonesia or in the US? Though I’m not to sure whether there would be any difference between the two, given the fact that US institutions of learning have been invaded by the same kind anti-thinkers currently giving Obama advice on US foreign policy.
Obama: Moreover, freedom in America is indivisible from the freedom to practice one’s religion. That is why there is a mosque in every state of our union, and over 1,200 mosques within our borders. That is why the U.S. government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab, and to punish those who would deny it.
That’s right, Obama supports the right of women to be subjected to the stigmatism of wearing a scarf, that very political scarf, that eventually leads to wearing a full bag garment. He (the supposed Christian who has yet to tell us why he quit Islam) has just consigned millions of women and girls to be forced into wearing a hijhab. Great going, ZERO, the women folk who are forced into wearing it will be thinking of you everytime the strap it on.
The Moral Relativist-In-Chief
Obama:On the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people – Muslims and Christians – have suffered in pursuit of a homeland. For more than sixty years they have endured the pain of dislocation. Many wait in refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, and neighboring lands for a life of peace and security that they have never been able to lead. They endure the daily humiliations – large and small – that come with occupation. So let there be no doubt: the situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable. America will not turn our backs on the legitimate Palestinian aspiration for dignity, opportunity, and a state of their own.
The only humiliations the Arabs endure, are the ones that they have willingly placed upon themselves, by refusing to end the conflict. From his grand illusions of Andulas, (where an Islamic occupying force supposedly spawned all kinds of love and brotherly fellowship between people of all faiths and creeds) to playing lip service to the Holocaust, in order to touch upon his real cause, a Palestinian state in order to placate the Arabs, Obama reaches to the lowest of his lows.
Enough with the rest of Obama’s speech, it’s just more of what I’ve heard already, when I sat in on a seminar to hear the OIC’s Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu give a talk about “Islam in Europe”. I’m sure that the OIC ‘s Secretary General is now grinning from ear to ear after hearing Obama promote every one of his talking points, and with the backing of the United States of America. KGS
