Obama in Turkey: Islam Has Done So Much For The World……!

Obama: including my own country!

UPDATE: Spencer provides ample reasons as to why Obama’s blurbs about Islam bear no relation to reality. “So in what way has the Islamic faith shaped Obama’s country? The most significant event connected to the Islamic faith that has shaped the character of the United States was the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001
Unfortunately, he actually means that in the positive sense. Obama’s whirlwind arse kissing tour in Europe and in Turkey has ended, as well as his unprecedented speeches that besmirched the US,and made the man into a walking political embarrassment.
But what is amusing to witness, is the Finnish political elite’s falling over themselves to get a chance to speak with the guy that was dazed by Joe the Plumber. Politicians like the Conan O’Brian look-alike, Tarja Halonen, almost tripped over her shawl just to pass a few words to him, and the best she could come up with was: “please come to Finland in the summer“.
Obamania is a hot selling item these days, but it is the US’s enemies that are set to gain from his “rock-star like” popularity, not the US taxpayer, as they begin to take advantage of his faulty foreign policies.
ANKARA, Turkey (al-AP) – Barack Obama, making his first visit to a Muslim nation as president, declared Monday the United States “is not and will never be at war with Islam.”
Calling for a greater partnership with the Islamic world in an address to the Turkish parliament, Obama called the country an important U.S. ally in many areas, including the fight against terrorism. He devoted much of his speech to urging a greater bond between Americans and Muslims, portraying terrorist groups such as al Qaida as extremists who did not represent the vast majority of Muslims.
“Let me say this as clearly as I can,” Obama said. “The United States is not and never will be at war with Islam. In fact, our partnership with the Muslim world is critical … in rolling back a fringe ideology that people of all faiths reject.” The U.S. president is trying to mend fences with a Muslim world that felt it had been blamed by America for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Al Jazeera and Al Arabiyia, two of the biggest Arabic satellite channels, carried Obama’s speech live. Obama said the partnership between the U.S. and the Muslim world is critical in rolling back what he called a fringe ideology that people of all faiths reject.
“America’s relationship with the Muslim world cannot and will not be based on opposition to al Qaida,” he said. “We seek broad engagement based upon mutual interests and mutual respect.”
“We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over so many centuries to shape the world for the better, including my own country,” Obama said. Obama also said, to a round of applause, that the United States supports Turkey becoming a member of the European Union.
Delusional. Mutual respect will never be forthcoming from the Islamic world, for to do so would be un-Islamic. Islam seeks dominance, not co-habitation with any other religion, and those who think differently about that, will have to prove otherwise. The TT is presently unconvinced by those who speak about a peaceful, friendly and moderate Islam, it simply does not exist. KGS

  1. The US foreign policy is always the same. Its the continuation of George Bush’s policy. They are always interested in attacking another country, divide and rule policy. Earlier they supported Saddam Hussein before Kuwait war, supported Taliban against Russia. Pak attacked Now attacked Pakistan in the name of Taliban. When they will change. They had plan to attack Iran if the recession wasn’t serious.

  2. You appear to believe that the US is the only country in the world that (a)pursues its own self interests and (b) never acts in response to the actions of others.

The US never supported the Taliban, that’s a myth, they in fact supported those loyal to the Lion of Pashwar, Ahmad Shah Massoud. Look it up.

As for Pakistan, the ISI uses the Taliban as a convenient wedge against “the Indian-West alliance”, in the belief that the alliance is trying to bottle up the Islamabad regime.

Pakistan is playing a dangerous game with Afghanistan. The Taliban is a two headed snake that will in the end bite the hand that’s keeping it alive.

As for Iran, there is no justification for their achieving nuclear weapon capability, unless you are for the ramping up of human rights violations inside that country once it goes nuclear.
