Egypt Warns Israel Against Launching ‘Devastating’ Gaza Operation…….

Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak is warning Israel against a ‘massive campaign’ in Gaza as the Jewish state plans to end, once and for all, the rocket fire coming from the Strip.

The Tundra Tabloids believes however that Egypt would like nothing better than to see the Hamas badly weakened, if not thoroughly taken apart, but issues these statements of warnings to present a unified Arab front.

While Hosni Mubarak warns of excessive use of force, it quietly hopes Israel uses every bit of its force in dismantling “Hamastan”, thereby ridding both states of a major headache.

But don’t be fooled, it’s not that the Egyptians disagree with Hamas’ goals, even though there is a cold peace between Israel and Egypt, the latter hates the former as much as the Hamas, but knows that Israel is not going anywhere any time soon. The Egyptian regime also recognizes that the ‘chest thumping’ Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza (Hamas) is by default, an existential threat to Mubarak’s regime and would not lose a minute of sleep over its demise, no matter how much their opinions dovetail concerning Israel.

J’lem Post: “Egypt warned Israel on Sunday against launching a massive military operation in Gaza, but Israeli defense officials said Cairo was angry with Hamas leaders for ending the six-month period of relative calm.

“Egypt is very upset at Hamas, and understands that the leadership there needs to be replaced,” one official told The Jerusalem Post. Officially, though, the Egyptians cautioned Israel against an escalation of violence.

“We say such a move would have devastating consequences, devastating humanitarian consequences,” Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki told the Post in a telephone interview. “This is something we cannot accept or condone under any terms.”

Bologna. Egypt is such a state that never worries about the excessive use of force on the domestic front, so it stands to reason that any such concerns over individual hardships arising from an Israeli operation in Gaza, is just Egyptian PR maneuvering, or paying “lip service” to Muslim Arab solidarity. It looks good and sounds good, and costs next to nothing, and Israel understands that. KGS

How concerned can they be? There is nothing to stop normal commerce between Egypt and Gaza yet the media insists there’s a blockade. Either the Egyptians are participating in the blockade or there’s no blockade at all.

Egypt has been offered sovereinty over Gaza. For some strange reasons, humanitarian concerns for the people there do not seem to compell Egypt to return to this territory they ruled for 19 years prior to 1967.

  2. God forbid Israel actually protect its citizens from Kassam and Grad missiles and mortar attacks!
