RFK Dispatches

RFK Dispatches Continued…….

This is the Tundra Tabloid’s second segment in the Robert Kennedy “Dispatch” series, that will focus on the second of four articles written by RFK while he was a correspondent in Palestine for the Boston Post in 1948.

The RFK articles were written during the end of the Mandate time period, when Britain was relinquishing its authority of Palestine. They reflect the thoughts of the author as well depicting the actions on the ground which helped shape the course of Israeli history and the region.

The articles contain a wealth of information, that on its own merit, helps to shore up the traditional reading of Israeli history, thereby rendering the “New Historian’s” revisionism of Israeli history to the ash heap of pseudo scholarship.

Jews Have a Fine Fighting Force Make Up for Lack of Arms with Undying Spirit, Unparalleld Courage — Impress the World

The Jewish people in Palestine who believe in and have been working toward this national state have become an immensely proud and determined people. It is already a truly great modern example of the birth of a nation with the primary ingredients of dignity and self-respect. […]

An understanding of the institutions it contains, and of the persons that run these institutions, is most important if one would make up one’s mind as to the worth of this “de facto” Jewish state. […]

A third of the agricultural population live in such community farms which were set up originally to help newly-arrived refugees who had no money or prospects. They are in reality self-sustaining States with a State and all the people in common undergo arduous toll and labor and make great sacrifices in order that their children might become heir to a home.

The usual canard dished out by those who seek to delegitimize Israel, was that the UN “gave” the land to the Jews at the expense of the local population. Nothing could be further from the truth. All that the UN did was to just recognize the reality on the ground, that the Jews had already built a working state of their own, that was in need of recognition as a de facto state.

Also worth mentioning, is the fact that the Jews took care of their refugees, not only the Jews filtering into the area from post-war Europe, but later on, when Sephardic Jews were driven out from Arab states where they had lived for centuries. Robert Kennedy saw that reality for himself during his time in Mandate Palestine, and thankfully he wrote what he saw for posterity.*L* KGS
