Mashaal is astonished that Israel is still worried over one man, Gilad Schalit, who was kidnapped in a Palestinian raid on an army post at Kerem Shalom, that saw two members from his unit killed and three wounded.
Captured IDF soldier Cpl. Gilad Schalit is alive and in good condition, Hamas’s Syria-based leader Khaled Mashaal was quoted as saying Thursday. In an interview set to be published Friday in the Italian weekly Panorama, Mashaal said that Schalit’s captors were treating him “according to law.” The Hamas leader went on to say that he was “astonished” as to why Israel so worried about one soldier when in Israel, about 12,000 Palestinians are detained, including women and children.
If the Palestinians had been busy doing what they had officially agreed to do –cracking down on all forms of terrorism against Israel– instead of inciting the violence themselves, then many of those currently sitting in an Israeli jail wouldn’t be there. They would either have not involved themselves in terrorism, or if so, they would have been caught by the Palestinians own security forces and be sitting in Palestinian jails. More here. *L* KGS
