The good news is that it was uncovered by Egyptian authorities, with the fourteen engineers and army officers being rounded up, thrown in jail, and now awaiting trial. Here is the gist of the story:
“The cell-members were planning to assemble an unmanned aircraft to attack targets inside Israel, the report said, quoting Egyptian defense officials. The cell allegedly manufactured rockets similar in design to those used by Palestinian terror groups. According to the report, the head of the cell – an engineer from the University of Alexandria – visited Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and met with a number of Afghan men, allegedly members of al-Qaeda.”
Not surprisingly, all of the Al-Qaida terrorists caught in the raid had professions. None of them were the poor, disenfranchised Muslims-turned-into-jihadis that many western academics and analysts would have us believe, make up the bulk of Islamic terror groups. These terrorists are highly motivated by their religion alone, their social status and degree of education has little if any influence on their becoming full fledged jihadists.
They are not a bunch of social activists trying to bring the world’s attention to the plight of Muslims and their social grievances. The only injustices they are trying to correct, are the ones they believe the non-Muslim world has committed against their god Allah, which will only be addressed by their eventual conversion, subjugation or death.
